How do you know if a team is set up to succeed or fail? Can you be sure it is functioning as a team rather than a group of individuals? Do you know how well it’s performing and whether that will continue in the future?
The Accomplice Team 360 graphs your team’s maturity against twelve characteristics of top performing teams. Views of team members and other key parties map the strength of everything from your remit, performance and team culture to your resource-base.
Use the 360 feedback report to reassure you of your team’s stage of development, confirm its development priorities and construct a plan to increase its overall performance.
The Tool
60 indicators of Team strength have been selected for audit, based on research into the characteristics of effective Teams.
The assessment of each indicator is made by every team member (for an internal team perspective) and ideally a selection of key parties (for an external perspective). Their views are solicited through a 15-30 minute questionnaire, ideally completed electronically.
Scores and then mapped into:
- Four dimensions to give an overall statement of the team’ strength in relation to its unique position, its reliability in delivery, the suitability of its environment and its current capacity to deliver.
- Twelve characteristics (three per dimension) with detailed commentary on its stage in maturity and, importantly, its priorities for development.
“I really rate the tool. I think its very visually powerful and provides you with some ability and insight into your team’s weak areas with a view to heading off potential difficulties.” NHS Senior Manager and Team Member
The 360 Report
A report of the findings are presented to the Team Leader. Currently an Accomplice Facilitator ensures the Team Leader has opportunity to review, validation and discuss the results first. New developments mean that, in time, Leader’s will have the opportunity simply to download the report.
Delivered in person or electronically, the written presentation includes :
- a summary of the methodology and any issues arising within the analysis
- the emergent strengths of the Team – and team leader
- the priority areas for development
- pointers for addressing the development needs identified
The Team Leader then takes forward the learning to build a development programme for their team – ideally by engaging members in its construction and implementation (as well as validation of the Team 360). An Accomplice facilitator can be made available to assist with this process too.
Additional Uses
After implementing their development programme, Teams may use the 360 again to measure progress and refresh their development programme.
Team 360 has also been used to audit featured within businesses, directorates and services – and to create plans to ensure they remain robust in the future.
