Aim
Get ready and be excited about your retirement! Sixty-plus or retiring early, the Accomplice pre-retirement Programme enables you (or your staff) to unveil and realise your goals – and make the most of working life meantime.
Whether you have work ambitions yet to fulfil, hope to get part-time paid or voluntary work during retirement, plan to travelling to far flung places or simply ‘stay at home’, we ensure you have a smooth transition into your new life.
Whilst most pre-retirement programmes are pitched at those with two (or less) years before retirement, preparing well ahead gives you more opportunity to gather the things you need for a richly rewarding time. So, we welcome anyone who is looking to retire within the next five years.
Content
The programme consists of at least four, one-to-one sessions with an independent consultant – the content being driven by the participant and their needs.
During the sessions, you will explore your hopes, issues and concerns around your retirement. We also encourage you to see the opportunities in maintaining motivation at work and managing your personal time and resources. Discussions inevitably highlight actions that you need to take (at work and home, now or later) to secure fully your goals. Finally, you’re invited to embed your ideas and actions into an explicit retirement plan to guide you to success.
For example, you may choose to use your sessions to establish the life-style you will have and interests you want to take up, assess your financial situation to meet your needs and consider what you can achieve in the workplace now to get you there.
Objectives
Wherever possible, participants are asked to confirm their own personal objective for the programme in advance such as:
• Successful transformation: my lifestyle, self-image and close relationships
• Managing the transition: my income, time, social life and interests
• Regaining momentum at work, being fulfilled in retirement
• Finding new value: confirming my interests, attaining suitable part-time (voluntary or paid) occupation
Approach
On receipt of the participant’s application (see below), acceptance onto the programme is confirmed along with dates and location for the sessions.
The first session is an assessment of your situation: confirming your initial requirements, telling your ‘story’ so far and shaping the programme in to meet your specific learning objective(s) of the participant. Sessions are then held fortnightly for one hour at the Accomplice premises. The final session includes a review of learning and identification of any ongoing actions that may be required (of the participant, their sponsor/line manager or others).
Participants of this structured programme also have full access to our on-line career and retirement facilities as well as feedback from their personal consultant on the activities they complete.
On completion of the programme, each participant is asked to evaluate their experience and, where agreed, confirm the content of any summary note of progress required by their sponsor.
Confidentiality
All information shared before and during the sessions is treated as confidential. In the unusual event of the participant (or others associated with them) being deemed to be at significant health or social risk, the consultant is will require the participant to relay key information to the relevant statutory bodies. Should participants refuse to seek the support of the services, Accomplice reserves the right to relay such information on their behalf – and would advise the participant in advance of their intended action.
Making the most of the programme
For the fullest benefits to be realised, participants are asked to arrive promptly for each session, book a two hour review time in between session in order to complete any agreed activities and return items to their consultant on or before the agreed dates.
Subject to your goals for retirement, you may wish to assemble a career portfolio, including their existing CV, evidence of training and qualifications, appraisals, testimonials, articles or speaking engagements, notes or evidence of key achievements, awards, certificates etc. Materials from each session can then be added to your portfolio throughout the programme.

• Winter: December & January
• Spring: March & April
• Summer: June & July
• Autumn: September & October
Session times are arranged around the participant’s availability.
